SO FAR IN THE PAST TWO DAYS, I'VE GOTTEN OVER 175 SIGNATURES OF PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS.

SCENARIOS ABOUT TRANSGENDER STUDENT ATHLETES THAT DON'T ACTUALLY EXIST IN YOUR SCHOOL DISTRICT.THIS IS PART OF A LARGER MOVEMENT OF ANTI LGBTQ ADVOCACY THAT HAS BEEN CONTINUOUSLY SCAPEGOATING LGBTQ YOUTH AND SCHOOL DISTRICTS ACROSS THE REGION. RESCINDING MEMBERSHIP OF CIF OVER SOMETHING THAT IS ACTUALLY A NON-ISSUE FOR THE DISTRICT WOULD BE RIDICULOUS.
THIS WOULD NEGATIVELY IMPACT EVERY SINGLE STUDENT ATHLETE WITHIN FONTANA PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
OTHER DISTRICTS, WHICH ARE BOUND BY CIF RULES WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SCHEDULE OFFICIAL GAMES WITH FONTANA TEAMS. THAT MEANS FONTANA STUDENT ATHLETES WOULD BE ISOLATED, BOXED OUT OF COMPETITIONS AND DENIED THE CHANCE TO PROVE THEMSELVES AGAINST THEIR PEERS.
THE DISTRICT'S ENTIRE SPORTS PROGRAM WOULD SIMPLY BECOME A JOKE.
THERE IS NO BENEFIT TO THE FONTANA DISTRICT RESCINDING ITS MEMBERSHIP AS PART OF CIF.
INSTEAD, ALL STUDENT ATHLETES ACROSS FONTANA WOULD EXPERIENCE SEVERE BACKLASH.

IN THE ABSENCE OF CIF. NOW WHAT? HOW WILL OUR TEAMS AND STUDENT ATHLETES DEAL WITH THE SUDDEN AND GAPING VOID IN THEIR SCHEDULES, SUDDENLY HAVE TO BUILD SCAFFOLDING AND INFRASTRUCTURE. INFRASTRUCTURE AND RELATIONSHIPS WITH NEIGHBORING SCHOOLS TO HAVE A COMPETITIVE SEASON. AND THEN WHEN A TEAM ENDS THAT SEASON. NOW WHAT? NO PLAYOFFS, NO STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS, NO NOTHING.

I KNOW, MISS SANDOVAL, YOU AND I HAVE TALKED ABOUT THIS SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT PROVIDING MEANINGFUL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES TO OUR STUDENTS VERSUS JUST RECOUPING ATTENDANCE DOLLARS. AND THAT'S SOMETHING THAT'S KIND OF BEEN STIRRING IN MY MIND, REALLY THINKING ABOUT, WHAT ARE WE DOING? YOU KNOW, AT SATURDAY SCHOOL.
